Q : How do I learn more about the Church of the Ascension?

A: Many of us gathered here today were not raised in The Episcopal Church, but have come to find in this parish a place of spiritual growth and community. If you would like to learn more about us, consider joining our congregation, come seeking prayer or guidance, please speak to one of our clergy, or call the church office at 334-263-5529.

Our church office is open Monday -Thursday 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Click here for directions.

Q : I am visiting, what do I need to know?

Visitors are welcome to all events and services at Church of the Ascension. Before coming, please check our Home page or Worship page for service times or call the church office at 334-263-5529.

Upon entering the door for church services, you will be greeted by our faithful volunteers who serve as greeters and ushers.

We celebrate the Holy Eucharist each Sunday and Wednesday evening. We are guided through the service using the Book of Common Prayer. Each week we listen to God’s word and celebrate Eucharist, also known as Holy Communion. All baptized Christians are welcome to receive communion.

Child care is provided on Sunday mornings from 8:00AM to 12:00 noon in the Nursery on the 1st floor. We welcome your children in Children’s Sunday School, during the school year,  K3-6th grade meets on the third floor at 9:15AM. Please see the Church Bulletin for details regarding Christian Formation and Children’s Church.

We also encourage visitors to fill out 0ur visitor’s card (found in the pew racks) and place it in the collection plate so we can follow up with you. We provide an order of worship bulletin (or program) so worshippers can participate fully even if you have never worshipped in an Episcopal church.

There is a large parking lot and additional street parking by the church on the corner of Clanton and McDonough Streets.

We realize that a first-time visit to any church can be daunting. We don’t think it should be and we’ll do our part to make you feel welcome. Please don’t hesitate to ask questions of anyone you encounter.
