Enneagram Workshop

The Ascension Sponsors Enneagram Workshop February 24-25, 2012, in Ascension Hall

The Enneagram in the context of this workshop is a Spiritual Development Tool that can bring direction and clarity in one’s journey with God. It is a personality theory combining the insights of modern psychology with wisdom of ancient philosophies. According to the Enneagram, there are nine personality types distinguished by a basic motivation and producing a pattern of perception, thinking, feeling and behavior called personality. The workshop will aim to increase awareness of the interface between personality and spirituality and discover particular healing paths, and is helpful for individuals, couples, groups, clergy and church leaders who desire to deepen spiritual self-knowledge and understand the gifts they bring to ministry and group interaction

Dr. Joe Howell will lead the workshop. He is a highly engaging and entertaining speaker, who makes any topic fun. Joseph B. Howell, Ph D, is a clinical psychologist in private practice in Anniston, Alabama. He received his Master of Art in Religious Studies from Yale University Divinity School and his Doctor of Philosophy in Psychology from the University of Virginia. While at Yale, Dr. Howell was mentored by Henri Nouwen. Dr. Howell has been as student and teacher of the Enneagram for over 20 years, seeking to integrate its truths into his clinical practice. He has presented numerous workshops regionally on the Enneagram. He seeks to understand and teach this system with clarity, spiritual wisdom and sound psychological principles.

Beverages and lunch on Saturday will be provided. The workshop is open to all. Cost is $30 per person, payable by check to: The Church of the Ascension, earmark Enneagram Workshop. Scholarships are available - please see John Coleman. Registration forms will be available in the church office and locations throughout the church. For more information contact Dorothy Dixon at 263-0593 or dorothydixon@charter.net

Discovery Weekend Coming in March

Discovery Weekend: March 16-18
This will be our first Discovery Weekend at the Ascension. Discovery Weekend is an opportunity to build community and explore what Christianity and our church are all about. It is a time for thinking, laughing, praying, sharing, and having fun with other members of our parish family.

Each of the Discovery Staff, in his or her own way, will try to share with you some of our experiences of Jesus Christ and our church. We hope that by the end of the weekend we will have been able to give glimpses of ourselves and especially of our Lord, while helping you articulate your Christian walk and faith.

This is a chance for the parish to give you a gift. Music will be provided by Becky Taylor and others, all meals will be provided by Cara Coreale, and childcare will be provided as well. There is no charge to you. If you are interested in reserving a seat, or learning more about Discovery Weekend, please call Becky Broadfoot: home (334) 612-7476, or cell (334) 652-9330.
