Chip Broadfoot
Chip Broadfoot is the Associate Rector of The Episcopal Church of the Ascension in Montgomery, Alabama. Chip accepted the call to serve as the Curate at Ascension in July 2008.Chip was born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee. He has a younger sister, Leslie, that is married and lives in Franklin, Tennessee. Chip attended elementary school at Presbyterian Day School and a college preparatory school, Memphis University School. Chip was a fourth generation graduate of Mississippi State University.
Chip worked for a hotel management firm based in Kansas after college, and in 1990, he joined Alan Brock and Associates, a hotel real-estate brokerage firm in Dallas, Texas. In 1997, yearning to return to the southeastern U.S., he began a solo hotel brokerage career in Birmingham, Alabama. Chip brokered hotel properties throughout the Southern and Midwestern U.S. In 2005, Chip left the real estate business and entered seminary at The School of Theology at the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee.
In 1990, Chip met another native Memphian, the former Becky Soldan, and they were married in January 1991. She graduated from the University of Tennessee with Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Speech Language Pathology. She is working as an Speech Pathologist at Baptist East Hospital in Montgomery. Chip and Becky have two daughters, Allie (20) and Kaki (18).
